Arkansas Health Connector
The Arkansas Health Connector is the name for the mandated American Health Benefit Exchange in Arkansas and this site is set to be up and running on October 1, 2013.
Like other State’s Health Insurance Exchanges approved to operate under the new PPACA health reforms, the eligible citizens of Arkansas will find the following informational services available on the local AHBE Connector website:
What is an Exchange?
The Arkansas Health Connector (“ARHIX”) is where the citizens and small business owners can go to secure health insurance quotes easier than ever before. Although, these exchanges were created primarily to help the “uninsured” people of Arkansas, it will also help many others, who can’t easily afford employer-sponsored health plans and small employers who cannot afford to offer expensive group health plans to their employees.
The Arkansas Health Connector is designed to assists those citizens, by presenting state approved options, that are required to meet new federally mandated requirement, in the purchasing process, where citizens buy their own individual medical insurance policy.
In some cases, the connector may also be able to provide new group coverage options to owners of small businesses, companies with less than 50 employees.
There are three Ways to get covered:
- Purchase a policy through the Arkansas Connector, where you may qualify to have part or all of your premiums paid for you.
- Purchase a policy directly from an carrier on your own.
- Get health insurance through your job or through your spouse/partner’s job.
The AR Insurance Department Commissioner has announced the participation of four commercial provider networks, who have qualified plans to be offered on the the connector. These include:
- Celtic Insurance Company d/b/a Arkansas Health Wellness Solutions - In-network Provider – Search
- Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield - In-network Provider – Search
